Telling Our Stories

This year, the library celebrates the stories that have been told in the 40 years since we opened our doors. We invite our community to celebrate with us and to contribute their own stories to the legacy we will leave behind for future generations!

First of all, we'd like to thank CBC for joining us at this exciting event and helping to make it possible. This event is going to be held in collaboration with CBC as part of their ‘Out Your Way’ initiative to reach out to rural communities through public libraries. This means they will be helping to fund much of the event.

CBC is on the move and they're coming out our way, Hinton!

CBC wants to hear your thoughts and opinions on what you want to see and hear from your public broadcaster. Join them at the Hinton Municipal Library for a day of open dialogue, local live entertainment, children's activities, free food, swag, and more.

All are welcome. We hope to see you there.

Our anniversary will be more than just celebrating the library. We want to highlight the amazing stories of everyone around us, so we hope you will join us for this exciting day of festivity!

The following activities are planned (check back for more details):

Performances by Local Musicians

12:00 pm - 1:00 pm: Kaden Guimond (singer/guitar)
1:00 pm - 2:00 pm: Marilyn Bulger (celtic harp)
2:00 pm - 2:30 pm: Khoi Bui (keyboard)
2:30 pm - 3:00 pm: Lily Davy (keyboard)
3:00 pm - 4:00 pm: Julia Shutenko (singer/guitar)

Art Displays

Local Catering

The Old Grind will be providing coffee, savoury bites (with vegetarian options), and baked treats including carrot cake and scones for party-goers to enjoy.

Kid's Activities Table

An activity table will be set up by CBC with colouring pages and a scavenger hunt. The Alberta Library will be bringing the Happiness Programme for visitors to play with as well!

History of the Library

Visit the Tom Peterson Room to take a trip down memory lane and view some photos of the library from years prior.

Photo Booth

Check out our photo booth and get your picture taken with an answer to the prompt: Why I Love My Library!

Tell Your Own Story

We'd love to hear a story you have about the library. Postcards will be available for you to write down a memory, an experience, or anything you'd like to share as a member of our community!

Book Bag Design Contest Voting

This event will mark the first day of community voting for the top 5 submissions to our Book Bag Design Contest. Vote on your favourite, and the final winner will be announced after March 28th!

Submit your art for the chance to be featured on our limited edition 40th anniversary book bags!
